Paper mill death

A paper mill based in Ivybridge has recently been fined following the death of a worker. Arjowiggins has been fined £200,000 with £60,000 costs. The court heard how the worker, Mr Zebedee, was cleaning rollers operating at 131 metres a minute, when he was drawn in to the rollers. An HSE spokesperson said: ‘Fast-moving machinery is a well-known hazard and must be properly guarded. Staff must also been given a full level of training when they are expected to work with potentially dangerous machinery.'
