National minimum wage increase

Following recommendations by the Low Pay Commission, the national minimum wage will increase by 2.5% from £5.93 (for adults) to £6.08 an hour from 1 October 2011.  The hourly rate of £4.92 for 18-20 year olds will increase to £4.98 and the rate for apprentices will increase from £2.50 to £2.60.
