We are delighted to announce the appointment of Kathleen O'Reilly, Head of Jordans Internal Legal Services, as Chair of the Company Law Committee of the Law Society. Kathleen takes up her new role from 1 September 2012.
Paul Townsend, Jordans Director of UK Corporate Services says "this is testimony to the high regard in which Kathleen is held by her peers and everyone in Jordans is proud to support her in her new role."
The Law Society is the representative body of over 150,000 solicitors in England and Wales. The Committee itself comprises lawyers specialising in all areas of company law. It identifies areas of company and financial services law and procedure requiring reform or review and makes recommendations for consideration by ministers and officials. The Committee also liaises with, and makes representations to, the European Commission on proposed EU legislation and to other bodies in this area such as the Accounting Standards Board and the Takeover Panel.
"I'm pleased to be taking up the challenge of the position of Chair of the Committee. I have gained unique experience at Jordans as an in-house lawyer specialising in this area that I'm sure will be an asset in the role. Businesses face many challenges at the moment. I'm hoping to encourage the views of all parties on the legal issues that affect them."
