India - Pulling Kids to Different Continents

When an NRI marriage breaks, child custody fights occur across the seas. We have no laws relating to cases of such conflict over child custody. At the very least, India could sign the 1980 Hague Convention.

What happens when a marriage breaks, and parents move to different continents? Consider, for example, the relationships that might exist between 1.2 billion Indians and about 30 million non-resident Indians spanning 130 different countries. The potential for conflict is enormous, but we have few laws to deal with the concern of child custody rights in such cases.
