The liquidator of an Australian insurance company obtained judgment in New South Wales against the defendants in respect of various payments made by the company as alleged preferences. By a letter of request, the liquidator requested the English court to exercise its jurisdiction under s 426 of the Insolvency Act 1986 (the 1986 Act), to act in aid of and assist the New South Wales court.
