Hot on the heels of Professor Mokal's appointment to the World Bank, Professor Adrian Walters has been appointed to the post of INSOL Scholar. The Nottingham Law School material notes:
"Adrian Walters, the Geldards LLP Professor of Corporate and Insolvency Law at Nottingham Law School, part of Nottingham Trent University, has been appointed INSOL Scholar for the Europe, Africa and Middle East Region. The one-year appointment, from 1 September, is in recognition of Professor Walters international standing as an insolvency law academic.
INSOL International (the International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Professionals) is a worldwide federation of national associations of accountants and lawyers who specialise in turnaround and insolvency. It has 40 member associations covering 10,000 participating professionals. It appoints up to three scholars annually to represent the Europe, Africa and the Middle East; The Americas; and the Pan Pacific Rim regions. Professor Walters, who leads a research group dedicated to the study of insolvency law, has published extensively in the areas of corporate insolvency law and bankruptcy law and has conducted funded research for the government and the Insolvency Practices Council. He is also the academic member of the Insolvency Service's Policy Evaluation Group.
During the year, Professor Walters will assist INSOL in producing reports and technical papers on current legislative and case law developments relevant to international insolvency. He will also work closely with the organisation with a view to formulating new studies and projects in conjunction with other organisations, such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law.
Professor Walters said: "It is a great honour to be appointed as an INSOL Scholar. Not only is it personal recognition, it's also a boost for insolvency law scholarship at Nottingham Trent University. I very much look forward to working with INSOL International and to further strengthen our existing links with what is the leading international practitioner organisation in the insolvency and restructuring world."
Congratulations to Professor Walters!
