As noted earlier in the week the Muir Hunter Museum of Bankruptcy collection has recently been augmented with a fine copy of Basil Montagu's work on Fermented liquors. Another new arrival has now been catalogued into the collection. We have now aquired the magnificent 17 volume set of Sir Francis Bacon's works edited by Basil. Basil edited and published this work between 1826 and 1835. He did this whilst working as a bankruptcy barrister and being engaged in the reform of the insolvency laws. Here is the citation to the latest aquisition:
Title: The Works of Francis Bacon A new edition: by Basil Montagu, Esq [With a portrait from a miniature by Nicholas Hilliard]
Author: Francis Bacon 1561-1626
Contributor: Basil Montagu 1770-1851. William WOOD Translator.
Publication Details: London : William Pickering, 1825-36.
Cambridge University have an interesting archive of Basil's working papers for the Bacon collection. See here. This new acquisition will be used as part of the ongoing Montagu biogrpahy work.
