Insolvency Gongs: MBE for an Examiner at the Official Receivers but otherwise a bit of a dearth
It is traditional at this time of year that I blog on the recently awarded gongs to those connected to the world of insolvency and legal academia. This is going to be a short post. Very few gongs made their way to people who are involved in our subject this year. As far as I can tell only one insolvency gong has been awarded. That was an MBE and it went to Mr Paul Yates, lately an Examiner with the Official Receiver, Insolvency Service Leeds, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.
There have been some awards in allied fields and areas. Accountancy and law as allied subjects have been touched. Mr Nigel Eastaway, a tax partner at BDO, has picked up an OBE for his services to taxation law. Professor Diana Woodhouse has also picked up an OBE. She was lately Pro Vice-Chancellor Research, at Oxford Brookes University. Her award is for services to Legal Scholarship and Higher Education.
Naughty IPs and solicitors alike may like to take note of the MBE given to Mr Anthony Isaacs, past President of the Solicitors' Disciplinary Tribunal. The Solicitor and Director General, Legal People and Communications, at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, Mrs Rachel Sanby-Thomas, has also scooped a CB.
