The Institute of Credit Management (President, Chief Registrar Stephen Baister) is pleased to announce the first in a series of occasional lectures on the theme of Debt and Responsibility. This event is being held in conjunction with KPMG’s ‘Thought Leadership’ series. The first lecture is on “Debt and Responsibility: Ethical and Philosophical Perspectives” by Revd Canon Dr Giles Fraser
Dr Giles Fraser is the former canon chancellor of St Paul's Cathedral, was director of the St Paul’s Institute think tank and is one of the best known religious and philosophical thinkers of our age.
Dr Fraser attended Newcastle University, and the University of Lancaster where he studied philosophy and theology. He was ordained deacon in 1993 and priest the following year, serving as the curate of All Saints in Streetly from 1993 to 1997. From 1997 to 2006, he was chaplain and then lecturer in philosophy at Wadham College, Oxford. He is the author and co-author of a number of books on religion and philosophy and is a specialist on the writings of the German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche. He also writes extensively for a number of leading church and national newspapers and lectures on ethics and leadership for the army at the Defence Academy, Shrivenham.
The Institute of Credit Management (ICM) is Europe's largest credit management organisation. It represents the profession in trade, consumer and export credit and all credit-related services. Formed over 70 years ago, it is the only such organisation accredited by Ofqual and offers a comprehensive range of training and services for credit professionals and businesses.
KPMG’s ‘Thought Leadership’ series provides a forum in which issues concerning debt, credit, and insolvency are discussed and debated in a wider context. Future lectures, it is hoped, will look at debt and responsibility from historical and policy perspectives.
