(Family Division, HHJ Clifford Bellamy, sitting as a judge of the High Court, 27 July 2012)
The local authority sought a care order in respect of a 15 1/2 year old girl who had been adopted when she was 6. Prior to her adoption details of her sexual abuse were not revealed to the adopters despite their request not to be matched with a child who had suffered sexual abuse.
The girl suffered from reactive attachment disorder and was placed in a specialist school when the adoptive parents were unable to manage her behaviour. The girl did not want anything to do her with adoptive family and supported the care order.
The threshold was met. The girl was likely to suffer significant harm attributable to her being beyond parental care. Wardship was not an option. A final care order was made in favour of local authority.
