CARE: Re R (Placement Order) [2007] EWHC 3031 (Fam)

(Family Division; Sumner J; 19 December 2007)

In a case involving five children, three of whom had suffered physical abuse, who were expected to be adopted in two separate batches, there was no need for an order under Adoption and Children Act 2002, s 26 governing contact between the children and their parents and family, or even contact between the siblings. Such an order was restrictive on potential placement and, given the potential difficulties surrounding placement of Muslim children, it was important to maximise the adoption options available.
