Family Law

The leading authority on all aspects of family law

06 JUN 2007

CARE/PUBLICITY: Re B; X Council v B [2007] EWHC 1622 (Fam)

(Family Division; Munby J; 6 June 2007)

The local authority's name had been anonymised in the reports of X Council v B (Emergency Protection Orders) [2005] 1 FLR 341. Following an informal application by the mother to name the authority, the judge concluded that the authority had not been granted anonymity in the proceedings, the anonymity had derived merely from the rubric conventionally attached at the time to Family Division judgments. There was no need to preserve the authority's anonymity in order to protect the children's privacy and interests; the local authority could be identified as Blackpool Council.
