LSC workshops on family fee scheme

28 JAN 2009

The Legal Services Commission (LSC) recently wrote to family practitioners, including family barristers, inviting them to a workshop to discuss proposals contained in the Ministry of Justice/Legal Services Commission's joint consultation, Family Legal Aid Funding from 2010: Representation, Advocacy and Experts' Fees.

The purpose of the workshops is for the LSC to explain their proposals and rationale as well as outlining the parameters of the consultation.

The LSC hopes the workshops will provide an opportunity for dialogue between practitioners and the LSC over what is proving to be a contentious issue.

If you practice family law and would like to attend one of these workshops, you will need to complete the application form which can be found on the LSC website.

Places for the three-month consultation are limited, although all responses received before the deadline of 18 March will be considered.
