Interpreters on the increase

Since April 2004 there has been a significant increase in the number of requests for foreign language interpreters in civil and family proceedings within the county courts and the High Court (from 20 requests a month to on average 100 per month during the past year). Following a Home Office led review, new terms and conditions for individuals providing face to face interpretation services were introduced across HM Court Service (HMCS) with effect from 26 February 2007. For more information see July [2007] Fam Law.
