The Family Justice Review (FJR) concluded that: ‘The Family Drug and Alcohol Court in Inner London Family Proceedings Court shows considerable promise. There should be further limited roll-out to continue to develop the evidence base.’ (p 132, Family Justice Review, Final Report, 2011).

This article examines the extent to which the Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) approach fits with the current changes to family justice. It concludes that the model has considerable potential to contribute to the improvement of care proceedings and, by doing so, improve outcomes for children and parents.
