The Law Society has published guidance for solicitors, practice managers or law firm IT staff who use or are planning to use cloud computing services.
The "cloud" is a metaphor for the Internet, so "cloud computing" means computing in which the hardware (and often the software) is owned and managed by another company and you then access and operate the services via the internet.
Legal practices are increasingly using cloud computing as an alternative to 'traditional' IT provision. Cloud computing has a number of advantages, but it also carries risks that your firm should navigate carefully.
