It can be difficult for individuals to raise concerns about the actions of their practice but there are professional and regulatory obligations to do so in certain situations. Senior staff, including compliance officers, should develop an open-culture environment that supports the reporting of concerns.
The Law Society has issue updated guidance on raising concerns and whistleblowing. The practice note includes detailed advice on:
the professional and regulatory obligations on individuals to raise concerns about the actions of their practice in certain situations;
the importance of the roles of COLPs and COFAs; and
considerations for practices in developing a whistleblowing policy.
