Forced Marriage (Civil Protection) Act 2007 Guidance

The Guidance for local authorities and partner agencies is intended to provide additional advice and support to frontline local authority employees when they are considering making an application as a Relevant Third Party under the Forced Marriage (Civil Protection) Act 20071 (the Act).

It supplements additional statutory guidance (below), The Right to Choose: Multi-agency statutory guidance for dealing with forced marriage issued under s.63 Q(1) of the Act and Multi-agency Practice Guidelines: Handling cases of Forced Marriage, issued by the Forced Marriage Unit.

The Multi-agency Guidelines include case studies that might be helpful.
