Divorce tycoon dies falling from London flat

Divorce tycoon dies falling from London flat
Scot Young, the husband in one of the most talked-about divorce cases, has died after falling from the window of his Marylebone flat and impaling himself on railings.

Police attended the scene on Monday afternoon and a man in his 50’s was pronounced dead. His death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

His dramatic death comes a year after the conclusion of acrimonious divorce litigation spanning 7 years with ex-wife Michelle Young. She alleged that the property tycoon was worth hundreds of millions of pounds but the husband claimed he was insolvent and had a deficit of £28m following a financial collapse.

During proceedings Scot Young was imprisoned for failure to provide full and frank disclosure of his financial position.

In the final judgment, Young v Young [2013] EWHC 3637 (Fam), [2014] 2 FLR 786,   Moor J found that drawing together the threads of available evidence the husband had assets of approximately £40m and made an award to the wife of £20m. However, it is believed that she never received the settlement and remained unable to trace any of her ex-husband’s assets.

In recent months Scot Young had appeared on the ITV programme ‘Ladies of London’ with his 30-year-old girlfriend Noelle Reno.
