DfE publishes guidance for local authorities on National Minimum Standards for adoption services
The Department for Education (DfE) has published guidance for local authorities, setting out the the National Minimum Standards applicable to the provision of adoption services.

The standards, together with the adoption regulations, form the basis of the regulatory framework under the Care Standards Act 2000 for the conduct of adoption agencies and adoption support agencies.

The National Minimum Standards are designed to be applicable to the variety of different types of adoption agencies and adoption support agencies. The aim is to enable, rather than prevent, individual agencies to create their own particular approach based on evidence that it is the most appropriate way to meet the child’s needs.
