Coram Children’s Legal Centre boosts online advice service
Coram Children’s Legal Centre is today launching a new website for its Child Law Advice Service (CLAS) to increase and improve access to free advice for people seeking information around child and family law.

The website (www.childlawadvice.org.uk) marks the culmination of the Child Law Advice Service’s (CLAS) transformation to a digital first platform, which commenced in April.

Since then, with the abundance of legal information readily available online, CLAS’s expert legal advisers have been able to offer intensive telephone support to more vulnerable people who have complex questions unable to be answered by digital factsheets.

The new CLAS website offers guidance on a wide range of family and education law which is clearly signposted from the homepage. As well as helping those in need to understand their legal position and options available, the information pages also provides clear definitions of complex legal terms for families and children new to the legal system.

New features on the website include a bookable call back option, available for a small fee, so that those in need of advice can book a 30 minute call slot with an advisor at a time that suits. Guides on how to take the matter forward yourself are available for either an annual subscription or a one off fee. These guides are a practical step by step document setting out what to do at each stage. There is also a page dedicated to how you can assist Child Law Advice to continue running its valuable service.

Gemma Smith, Manager of CLAS, says:

'I am delighted that we are able to launch a user-friendly website that means our much valued and important legal information and advice is available to those in need 24 hours a day.

Legal terms and processes can often be hard to understand for the layperson. Our new website presents these in an easy to understand way, to enable more vulnerable people access to justice. The team will be updating the information pages as and when legal advice laws change to ensure we continue to offer an invaluable legal resource.'
