Civil Partnership (Pensions, Social Security and Child Support) (Consequential, etc Provisions) Order 2005 (SI 2005/2877)

12 APR 2010

This Order comes into force on 5 December 2005. It makes amendments to various provisions of subordinate legislation, and contains a transitional provision relating to housing benefit and council tax benefit and a transitory provision for child support in relation to cases for which the provisions of the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security Act 2000 (c 19) are not yet in force. The amendments are consequential upon the Civil Partnership Act 2004. The Act, the substantive provisions of which come into force on the same date as this Order, enables same-sex couples to form a civil partnership by registering as civil partners of each other. Certain overseas relationships registered abroad may be treated as the formation of a civil partnership.
