Assessing Life After Re G

Dr Roger Kennedy, Consultant Psychotherapist, Cassel Hospital. A number of issues arise from the House of Lords judgment in Re G (Interim Care Order: Residential Assessment) [2005] UKHL 68, [2006] FLR (forthcoming), especially those parts in conflict with government policy concerning children in need. Since the case involved a family which was successfully rehabilitated at the Cassel Hospital's family unit, aspects of the judgment and its potential impact on disadvantaged families may be of some interest to family lawyers. See May [2006] Fam Law 379 for the full article.
