Sheffield solicitors, Taylor & Emmet LLP, has signed a formal merger agreement that will see it become one of the largest providers of family law services in Yorkshire.
Taylor & Emmet is joining forces with Hallam Mediation, an independent firm of specialist mediators serving Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, Wakefield and Leeds.
Marilyn Cumberland of Hallam Mediation is to become a partner at Taylor & Emmet. She and her staff will to continue to operate under the existing brand, as a trading division of the firm.
Head of family law, Michaela Heathcote (pictured), will be responsible for managing the integration and future growth of Taylor & Emmet's mediation services, enhancing the experience and expertise of her existing department. The firm is already one of the region's largest family law teams, advising clients on a wide range of marital issues, from pre-nuptial agreements and financial settlements to disputes relating to children.
Michaela said: "On behalf of everyone at Taylor & Emmet, I would like to welcome Hallam Mediation to the team. Marilyn is extremely well known and respected within her profession, having pioneered the growth of mediation in the area and her skills will be a valuable addition to the services we provide. Our department has been a keen advocate of alternative dispute resolution for many years and I believe, together, we can deliver one of the most comprehensive and competitive family law packages in the region."
Taylor & Emmet's merger with Hallam Mediation is part of a wider strategy of growth for the firm.
