COSTS: Walsh v Singh (Costs) [2011] EWCA Civ 80

(Court of Appeal; Arden and Black LJJ and David Richards J; 10 February 2011)

A property case involving a cohabiting couple. The man and woman had cohabited for a significant period and at one stage were engaged. At issue was whether the woman had a beneficial interest in the property. The woman had made no financial contribution to purchase price, however she claimed to have made a contribution to renovation works and to the man's business.

The man's appeal against the judge's decision to make no order as to costs was refused by the Court of Appeal.
