S203 ERA 1996 makes void any provision of a contract which excludes or limits the operation of any provision of the Act or which precludes a person from bringing any proceedings under the Act before an employment tribunal. S144 Equality Act 2010 makes similar provisions in respect of rights under the discrimination legislation.
