Reduction in fines for Arkema

On 7 June, the General Court reduced the fine imposed on Arkema France and its subsidiaries from €219.1m to €113.3m. The fine was imposed by the European Commission in May 2006 pursuant to the methacrylates cartel decision: the Commission found that Arkema and four other producers of acrylic glass had participated in a cartel, agreeing prices and exchanging commercially sensitive information between January 1997 and September 2002.
