In this short article, Sir Jeremy Lever takes a critical look at the Government's proposal to merge the OFT and CC. He queries whether there is any evidence that a merger of the two institutions would be better than the present structure and suggests that a merger may give rise to serious fundamental rights issues for both merger control and market investigations.
