Sir Peter Roth, Judge of the High Court and President of the Competition Appeal Tribunal
UK competition law has been intimately bound up with EU competition law for decades. The effects of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU and the single market on competition law are therefore far-reaching. However, competition law will not disappear in the UK; it has a life wholly independent of the EU. This article considers the future of UK competition law from the perspective of public enforcement (mergers, antitrust and market investigations), private enforcement (of both UK and EU competition law) in the UK courts and substantive law (for both mergers and antitrust). The full version of this appears in Competition Law Journal issue 1 of 2017 at Comp Law 5and has been made available, free of charge, as a service to our readers. You can download the article here.
