On 12 October 2011, the Commission found that two banana importers, Chiquita and Pacific Fruit, had operated a price-fixing cartel in Italy, Greece and Portugal from July 2004 to April 2005. Chiquita received immunity from fines for providing the Commission with information about the cartel. Pacific Fruit was fined almost €9m.
