Andrew Henderson is a partner in Eversheds' financial institutions group specialising in financial services regulation.
He advises international asset managers, investment advisers, depositaries and custodians, investment banks, broker-dealers and banks on all aspects of EU and UK financial services regulation, with a particular focus on investment business. This includes advice on the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, the Capital Requirements Directive and Regulation, the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive, the UCITS Directive, the Market Abuse Directive and Regulation, and the European Market Infrastructure Regulation. In addition to the application of the above in the UK, Andrew also advises on issues arising under the Retail Distribution Review and issues relating to the protection of client assets and client money.
In addition to the types of client above, Andrew’s clients have included governments, regulators and exchanges in Abu Dhabi, Botswana, Dubai, Qatar, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, the UK and the US. Andrew’s work for these clients has included advice on the content of rules and regulations.
Andrew also works closely with his colleagues in the disputes and investigations team drawing on his past experience as a contentious financial services lawyer.
Andrew is helping lead the firm’s MiFID II initiative and has contributed to various academic and practitioner texts, including most recently Gore-Browne on EU Company Law. He regularly writes articles, speaks at conferences, and provides training for clients on a wide variety of financial services regulatory matters drawing on his past experience as a college law lecturer at the University of Cambridge.
